The federal rule names the identifiers that cannot appear in a public filing: Social Security numbers, birth dates, minors' names, financial account numbers. Those map directly onto detection categories, so the pre-filing pass becomes a checklist you approve rather than a read-through you hope was careful enough.

When a matter closes or a subpoena demands (non-privileged) records, the file leaving the firm carries other clients' and third parties' information in the margins. Will the redactions survive a copy-paste test?

Can a paralegal or litigation-support vendor run client jobs through it?

Yes. Service providers run each client's documents as separate jobs, every job produces its own audit certificate, and the human-review step keeps the professional's judgment in the loop — the tool proposes, you decide.
